About Our Fundraising Events

About Marylou Lymer Memorial Charity Hockey Tournaments and Other Fundraising Events
Marylou Lymer Memorial Charity Hockey Tournaments and other fundraising events are held in honor of Marylou Lymer, a mother and grandmother, who courageously battled breast cancer for seven years, passing away on April 1, 2010. In 2009, she helped establish an annual hockey tournament in her hometown of Gibsons, British Columbia to raise funds to assist charities dedicated to the fight against cancer. Her dream was to see other communities utilize friends, family, and hockey as a basis for fundraising dedicated primarily to fighting breast cancer. Since March 2009, events held in her honor have donated over $120,000.

Participating hockey players are committing to raise a minimum of $250 in sponsor pledges to participate. All net proceeds will be equally donated to the American Cancer Society to fight breast cancer and the Las Vegas Firefighters Youth Hockey (LVFFYH), a non-profit organization, founded by Las Vegas area firefighters to assist Las Vegas area youth experience ice hockey. Our 4-team, co-ed hockey tournament is scheduled for October 4, 2014.
